Topical Minoxidil

Also known as: Rogaine Foam · Rogaine Solution

What it is

A topical solution or foam formulation of minoxidil at 2% or 5% concentration applied directly to the scalp.

How it works

After topical application, scalp sulfotransferases convert minoxidil to its active metabolite minoxidil sulfate, an ATP-sensitive potassium channel opener proposed to prolong the anagen phase of hair growth.

Where it's used

Used in androgenetic alopecia in both sexes. Most widely used over-the-counter treatment for pattern hair loss.

FDA-approved use

Androgenetic alopecia (topical 2% and 5% formulations available over-the-counter).

Tracking it

Logging every administration of Topical Minoxidil builds the record that makes patterns visible. with a half-life of about 4 hours, a dose log also lets a tracker model the relative amount still in your system between doses.
