Bromantane

What it is

A synthetic adamantane derivative developed in Russia. Available as oral tablets where marketed.

How it works

Proposed in preclinical studies to enhance dopamine synthesis via upregulation of tyrosine hydroxylase and to modulate GABA-ergic signaling, producing combined stimulant and anxiolytic effects.

Where it's used

Approved in Russia for asthenic disorders. Used historically by some athletes; listed on the WADA prohibited list as a stimulant.
